      How Do I Test Cables Longer Than 500 meters with TestPro?

      This article describes how to test very long cables. The standard autotest is supported by the TestPro up to 600m. There is also a special test mode for cables from 500m to 1000m in length. These situations are becoming more common with the growth in Cat 3 IoT and low speed building automation applications.

      1. Press Settings
        From the home screen, press the Settings softkey.

      2. Press Certifier/Validator Settings

      3. Select "Long Cable"
        KB12-3
      4. Select "Yes"
        Then press return until you get to the main (home) screen, press the blue "Home" button

      5. Repeat this process for the Remote unit as well
      6. Connect units to opposite ends of link and press Cable Certification

      7. Press Autotest
        KB12-7
      8. Results are displayed

        Note: Tests will fail using Standards-based limits such as Cat6A Channel, as longer cables will not pass due to the limits set by the standards. TestPro allows importation of custom limits to accommodate long cables.
